River Basin Area on Mt. Slamet Region

Mt. Slamet region is encompassed by two main river basin areas (RBA) they are Pamali-Comal RBA and Serayu RBA. Pamali-Comal river basin is originated on the western slope of the mountain, descending to the northeast through the territory of Brebes, Tegal, and Pemalang Districts and empties into the Java Sea (Java North Sea).

Generally with the two river basin areas that depend on the wholeness of hydrology system condition, Mt. Slamet region take role for 35.97% RBA area and 40.25% surface water supply in Central Java Province. It is very important because there are only 7 river basins covering 32.544 kilometer square with 65.655 billion cubic surface water supplies.

SWS Pamali Comal

There are five administrative territories directly influence to Mt. Slamet condition. They are Banyumas, Purbalingga, Pemalang, Tegal, and Brebes regency. While the territories will be influenced by Mt. Slamet hydrology system are six regency and one municipal ( Banyumas, Pemalang, Tegal, Brebes, Cilacap and Tegal Municipality). 

Area of Pamali-Comal river basin is 5.297 kilometer square with total water supply 10.236 billion meter cubic.

Pamali-Comal river basin comprises the river systems of S. Wakung, S. Waluh, S. Karep, S. Gung, S. Prupuk, S. Keruh, and S. Pamali. All of them are originated on Mt. Slamet.

Serayu River Basin

Serayu river basin is originated on Dieng Plateu, crossing the territori of Wonosobo, Banjarnegara, Purbalingga, Banyumas, and Cilacap Districts, finally meets with the Indian Ocean.  Serayu river is 176 km.

The total area of Serayu river basin is 6.410 square kilometers with potential water supply of 16.191 billions cubic meters. This river basin comprises 17 river systems with its rivers.

Rivers originated on Mt. Slamet and the part of Serayu river basin are Arus, Cikawung, Tembong, Logawa, Banjaran, Pelus, Cupak, Berem, Punggawa, Lembarang, Soso, Klawing, Ciawitali, Gintung beside 1.699 others rivers.]
